About Home & Bills
Home & Bills shows what it really costs to live in a home in the United States: the monthly bills, the cost of living in each state, and what remodels, repairs, home services and energy upgrades cost where you live.
What we do
Most cost guides give one national number. We start from official U.S. data instead, such as the Energy Information Administration, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau and ENERGY STAR, and turn it into local numbers: the average bill at your electric company, the labor rate for a plumber in your metro area, or what an appliance costs to run at your state’s electricity price.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell products or take payment to rank companies.
- We don’t publish hands-on product reviews or invented testimonials.
- We don’t give legal, tax or financial advice. Our pages explain costs so you can make your own decisions.
How our pages are made
Every page is built from official data sources, which we name on the page along with the data year. Articles are researched from those sources and drafted with the help of AI writing tools. When we can’t verify a number, we leave it out. See our methodology and data sources for details.
Independent and focused
Home & Bills is an independent website dedicated to one thing: the real cost of running a home in America. Questions, corrections and suggestions are welcome through our contact page.
